Harrah's Casino will hold a three-day Fall Festival this weekend with rides, food and a carnival midway in its parking lot opening daily at noon.

Also on tap is live music. Mississippi natives and Nashville up-and-comers Crossin' Dixon will perform on Friday. On Saturday, country outfit the Michael Stacy Band and the dance band Party Planet, featuring former Kool & the Gang vocalist Al Paris, take the stage. And Sunday is ladies night with all-female casino regulars BroadBAND and a festival-closing appearance by best-selling country artist Sara Evans followed by a giant fireworks display.

Evans, known for hits like "Born To Fly" and "A Real Fine Place To Start" as well as for a stint on the television show "Dancing With the Stars," recently signed on as national spokesperson for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's "Dream Home Giveaway" fundraiser and is working on a new EP of Christmas songs due soon.

Kenny G hits Gold

Though loved (and, in some circles, reviled) today for his distinctive take on light jazz, Grammy-winning, best-selling saxophonist Kenny G was once a soul man. Local film lovers recently saw Kenny G, born Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, as a talking head in "Wheedle's Groove," a documentary about Seattle's '60s and '70s soul and funk scene that showed at last week's Indie Memphis Film Festival.

However, it will be the soft lips behind such dulcet numbers as the 1987 hit "Song Bird" that will be on display when Kenny G takes the stage Saturday at Gold Strike Casino's Millennium Theater.

Currington's back

Singer Billy Currington has become something akin to country music's hard-luck kid. A career already interrupted by laryngitis and a 2007 stint in a trauma recovery program hit another snag in August when a stage Currington was performing on at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta, gave way giving him a concussion and killing a bystander.

Currington is back, however, and brings his tour to Fitzgerald Casino's Great Hall tonight. The tour follows the recent success of "People Are Crazy," the Georgia native's third No. 1 single, a nominee for two awards at next month's Country Music Association Awards.

Jon B at Sam's Town

A Babyface protégé who has written songs for After 7, Toni Braxton, and Color Me Badd, R&B singer Jon B performs Saturday at Sam's Town Casino's River Palace Entertainment Center.

After being discovered by Babyface's then-wife, Tracey Edmonds, Jon B made his debut in 1995 with Bonafide, featuring the Top 5 duet "Someone To Love," which was also featured on the Bad Boys soundtrack. His sixth and most recent album was last year's Helpless Romantic, though this year he also releases a live greatest hits collection. Chicago comic Damon Williams joins him.
